What is an internet merchant account?
An internet
merchant account is essentially a separate bank account that allows you to
accept credit card payments without having to actually see the card or card
user in person, via a payment gateway. This account is not the same as a
regular merchant account (like what your local fabric shop has and which
includes the card swipe machine). If you already have a merchant account,
