Setting Up Your Email Accounts On The Server
When you first start working with your Watersweb website, you will have one default email account. It is yourusername@yourdomainname.com. You can use this as your email address, but you may prefer to setup a more professional account, such as contact@yourdomain.com, sales@yourdomain.com or webmaster@yourdomain.com, for example.
(Please replace yourdomain.com with YOUR DOMAIN Name.)
Your account comes with unlimited POP email accounts.
Quote:
| POP e-mail accounts allow you to retrieve e-mail directly from POP3 mailboxes. POP3 mailboxes are like PO boxes for emails, the emails are stored there until you collect them. One of the biggest advantages of using POP accounts is it allows you to use your Domain Name in the address. This looks much more professional in your printed media than using generic email addresses provided by another ISP or even an address from a free email provider. |
Another advantage is that you can use an email client such as Outlook, Outlook Express, Eudora, etc. to download your emails directly to your computer. This prevents your emails from using up all your server disk space and allows you to access them even when you are offline. YOu can also search through your emails using these clients.
Setting up the account in Cpanel
Anyway, on to the important stuff.
You can setup your additional POP email accounts through your site cpanel (http://www.yourdomain.com/cpanel). Login to your cpanel, and in the top right column, click on the Mail Manager icon. Then click on the add/remove accounts link.
(Please replace yourdomain.com with YOUR DOMAIN Name.)
You will see the default email address listed. You cannot delete this address. (However, you can have any emails sent to it forwarded to another account. But that’s a different thread…)
At the bottom, click the Add Account link. Type in the name that will show up before the @, such as contact, sales or webmaster. Then give the account a password. Since you will will be downloading all your email to your computer, I recommend leaving the quota blank. (If you will be leaving any emails on the server, go ahead and set a quota, so you won’t accidently use up all your webspace.
Then click created. You’re done!
